Administrative Assistant Costs to EMPLOYERS

Average Salary of an Administrative Assistant:
Between $35,000 and $45,000, depending on the area in which you live and the administrator’s experience.

Also included ABOVE the salary of an administrator, Employers also pay for: Paid Time Off, Personal and/or Sick Days, Equipment Costs, Maternity Leave, Health Care, Retirement Benefits: Placement Fees if Employers use a recruiting company or temp agency. Some employers also pay relocation fees.

Job Description of an Administrative Assistant:
Plan, direct, or coordinate supportive services of an organization, such as record keeping, mail distribution, telephone operator/receptionist, and other office support services. May oversee facilities planning and maintenance and custodial operations.

Employee Turnover:
Average employee term is approximately 3 years, meaning the need to train an employee every 3 years costs you your time.

FICA Taxes:
Social Security (Employer pays 6.2%)
Medicare (Employer pays 1.45%)

Employer Payroll Taxes:
Companies are responsible for paying their portion of payroll taxes. These payroll taxes are an added expense over and above the expense of an employee's gross pay. The employer-portion of payroll taxes include the following:
Social Security taxes (6.2% up to the annual maximum)
Medicare taxes (1.45% of wages)

Employer must pay a tax professional to do the following:
Statutory Payroll Tax Deductions:
Payroll taxes must be withheld from an employee's paycheck. This is required by law. Employers must hand these withholdings over to various tax agencies.
Payroll tax deductions include the following:
Federal income tax withholding (based on withholding tables in Publication 15)
Social Security tax withholding (6.2% up to the annual maximum)
Medicare tax withholding (1.45%)
State income tax withholding
Various local tax withholdings (such as city, county, or school district taxes, state disability or unemployment insurance).

When looking at these numbers for an Administrative Assistant, keep in mind that many types of these positions have a lot of “downtime”, being paid to wait for that next project to come in. MANY administrators remain VERY busy throughout the day, however MANY administrators could be getting paid to surf the net while waiting for projects and/or business to pick up.

These types of functions are more time consuming and charged more per hour IF you want the job done right. This can be discussed in more detail during a consultation. Website design services will be charged by design. For instance, a re-design of an existing site would be less than the complete build of a site.

Why I started Independent Projects

I started thinking and planning the idea of Independent Projects back in 2006, before the economy took its largest downfall. I was laid off by one of the major financial institutes and was also seven months pregnant at the time. I struggled to find meaning and a new career path. Shortly after being laid off, I started working for an independent financial planner from home, but was still planning my future in my head. Do I go back to work with only enough salary to pay for daycare, or do I really start this business? I wanted a solid business model that would survive this recession. Business owners continued to struggle to keep their dreams afloat. Since I was already working from home for one person, I designed thoughts in my head of how I might be able to work with multiple business owners and entrepreneurs. From these thoughts evolved Independent Projects. A company that looked at the economy and thought of ways to support those business owners who didn’t have the means or desires to hire a full-time/part-time permanent employee, with the rising costs of healthcare and employee taxes. Independent Projects helps business owners keep their dreams moving forward by offering various support in administration, marketing, web design…all of those tedious, but most important tasks those same business owners keep pushing back because they need to focus their energy on surviving this recession and keep their business growing. Outsourcing those particular tasks to Independent Projects allows them to keep moving forward at half the cost of an employee. We don’t charge membership fees and by outsourcing you eliminate the need to offer or pay for healthcare, unemployment compensation, employee taxes and workman’s compensation. We only charge our clients for the work we do for them. Making this a win-win business model for both parties in this desperate time of recession. My team is also made up of stay-at-home moms. When I became a stay-at-home mom myself, I found it more challenging than I anticipated it to be. There are currently five million stay at home moms in the US. Many of which are talented and have degrees. Inflation keeps going up, but our payroll does not. Many of us choose to stay home, because we know that if we went back to work, we would be working just to pay for daycare. Currently, there is not a whole lot of funding for early childhood education and daycares in this area are expensive. My goal with Independent Projects is to not only offer support to business owners, but also offer a legitimate company that moms can work for from home.

SendOutCards

Hello, my name is Angela Myrtetus and I wanted to share with you a new way to gain referrals from clients and keep in touch with family and friends with your own computer..no driving, no gas....

I know that getting people to refer your business can be difficult.
